Privacy Policy

We do not ask you for personal information, and there is nothing to sign up for.

• No accounts. There is no registration, login, or profile.
• Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to tell visits apart and recognise a returning browser. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies. See Analytics below.
• Advertising cookies. This site uses Google AdSense, which may set cookies in your browser to serve and measure ads. We do not receive your identity from Google. See Advertising below.
• No uploads. We never ask for documents, case numbers, receipt numbers, or identification.

The priority date checker puts your selections and your date into the page address, like /priority-date?category=EB2&area=INDIA&pd=2013-01-01. That is deliberate: it makes a result shareable and bookmarkable.

It also has consequences you should know about:

• The address is saved in your own browser history, like any page you visit.
• It appears in the access logs kept by our hosting provider, alongside your IP address, in the ordinary course of serving the page.
• Anyone you send the link to can see the date in it.

We do not store your date in a database, attach it to you, or use it for anything beyond producing the answer on screen. Your date is compared against the published cut-off and the result is rendered; nothing is retained afterwards.

We also set a referrer policy that stops the full address — and therefore your date — being passed to any external site you click through to, and outbound links carry no referrer. If you would rather it not appear anywhere at all, clear the query string from the address bar after reading the result.

Like any website, requests reach a hosting provider that records standard technical information — IP address, time, the page requested, browser user agent — to serve traffic, diagnose faults, and prevent abuse. We do not use these logs to build profiles of visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else.

The site is served by a hosting provider and is delivered over a content network, both of which necessarily process the technical information described above.

Pages link out to official government sources such as travel.state.gov. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we have no control over them. We do not embed third-party content, fonts loaded from elsewhere, social widgets, comment systems, or video players.

We use two analytics services to understand which pages people use and how they find the site.

• Google Analytics. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga) so it can tell one visit from another and recognise a browser that comes back. Google receives the pages you view, your browser and device type, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and the site that referred you. We see this only as aggregate reports, not as a record of any individual.
• Vercel Web Analytics. Run by our hosting provider, it counts page views without cookies or any other persistent identifier, and cannot recognise a returning visitor.

Because the priority date checker puts your date in the page address, that address — including your date — is reported to both services as the page you viewed. It is not linked to your name or any account, since there are none.

You can stop Google Analytics collecting data about you with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site in your browser. How Google uses this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

This site uses Google AdSense to serve advertising.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may use cookies or similar technologies to do so.
• We do not give advertisers your name, email address, or anything you type into the priority-date checker. We do not have that information ourselves.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices. Google’s own explanation of how it uses data from sites that show its ads is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised advertising cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time.

This site is a reference tool aimed at adults dealing with immigration paperwork. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Because we hold no accounts and no database of visitors, there is generally nothing personal for us to retrieve, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, write to us and we will look and tell you what we find.

When this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes — in particular, introducing analytics or advertising — will be described here before they take effect, not afterwards.
